Frustrating game.....

Granted, I am not a very good golfer at all, but I love the game!! I go out often trying to improve myself. This being only my 2nd year of golf, I am very pleased with myself to be under an 18 handicap this year Last year the majority of my problems lied with my driver. I had a nasty slice that I played with ALL year. At the beginning of this year, all of last years errors had been forgotten apparently.

With my driver I now hit 1 of 2 shots with my driver. #1 - VERY high tee shot. It still goes far, but I lose much distance when I hit it this high. I can hit the ball 280-300+ with my driver if I hit it well.........not even close if it goes this high.

#2 Instead of a slice, this year I have a duck hook. One that makes you go WOW. For what it's worth, I enjoy hooking the ball After slicing all of last year and knowing how hard it is to correct, I love seeing myself with a hook. Also, I will still occasionally slice a ball.

The big problem I am having now is rotating my arms too quickly at impact I believe. It's the one thing I worked on the most, and it shows. Any tips or drills to work this flaw out of my game? I want to be able to feel the correct swing. Please don't give me the easy answer of "get a lesson". I will be getting lessons in the near future, but before I do that, I still want to be more consistent with ball striking.

The last week I have been having the same problem, so I went and read these and I think that for me it is an issue of hanging back...read and enjoy...

Re: Frustrating game.....

You seem like you have the same problem as my best friend.. he has been playing the game alot longer than you but is having the same problems. my friend was playing off 5 handicap 4 years ago but now is struggling to play to 28! his handicap is 13 and is really thinking of giving up !! He was playing great golf one minute then "the block" came and ruined his game, to compensate for the big slice or block he then went from one extreme to the other and started hooking everything . He is at the end of the road! Everyone has just said @take a lesson@ but lessons aint cheap...

Re: Frustrating game.....

Whenever I have swing problems, I go to the range and hit a bucket or two while concentrating on making easy "wristless" swings using a soft or light grip. I start by hitting 8iron, then 5 and 2 and going to a fairway wood, driver and finishing with some wedge shots. It has worked many times over the years, maybe it can help you.
