Shaft Angle

I was just recently started putting my shaft more vertical that forward lean. When I had alot of forward press in my setup I had some problems with hitting the ball a little fat. Now that someone has changed my setup so that my shaft is almost straight up and down I sometimes hit the ball a little thin. My question is should I try and find something in the middle or work on the more vertical shaft setup till I get it down. Thanks

Re: Shaft Angle

Based on your results the approach you suggest in your last sentence seems quite reasonable!

Are you talking about all clubs, just driver, just irons or yet something else?

Re: Shaft Angle

OK. That doesn't change my answer though! It is hard to answer without seeying your setup and swing anyways.

You mention that 'someone' changed your setup. If this person is a golf-teacher, or otherwise qualified to help you with your swing, it couldn't hurt to have him or her take a second look, or to have him/her help you find a solid in-between setup. If not, I cannot see anything wrong with you looking for it yourself. Devote 1,2,3 range sessions to it, working on just that. Good luck!

Re: Shaft Angle

Whatever works. I personally think a vertical shaft on an iron at setup is not a good for me but it depends on your personal swing and what happens after set up. If you are thinning the ball that is a sure sign of flipping the club meaning clubhead comes through before the hands.
