i bought my callaway 3-wood to get more distance in the fairway but its only going as far as my titliest 7-Wood. Why? 3-wood loft is 24 7-wood is 20.5 they both go about 145 yds.
Sure those aren't backwards? I find it hard to believe a 3wood is 24 degrees.
20.5 is a strong 7 wood, but a lot of todays manufacturers make them that strong. 24 degrees I find hard to believe for a 3 wood. I just checked the Callaway site, and all of their current lines have 3 wood lofts of 13 or 15 degrees, the 5 woods range from 17-19, and the 7 woods are 20-22. You sure you didn't get a 9 wood? 24 degrees is pretty much a typical loft for a 9 wood these days.
My Bangster woods are 3 wood 16, 5 wood 20, 7 wood 23
I believe the xj series are clubs for juniors. That might explain the increased lofts, to help get the ball up with the shorter shafts, slower swings.
I think this explains everything. I found some specs on the xj series, and the fairway wood is 24 degrees. Since the driver for this set is 17 degrees, a 24 degree wood marked as a 3 wood is not out of the realm of possibility.
