Ball selection

I've been testing various balls recently to find a ball that best suits me. I want something that wont spin of the driver too much (sometimes i have a slice problem) but yet something still with a soft feel for chipping and putting. distance is not a concern for me nor is price. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Re: Ball selection

If price is irrelevant, I would go with ProV1 or the new Callaway iTour series. I've never really experimented with the top-end balls from Nike, Bridestone, or Srixon, so I can't comment on those, but I really haven't found a better all-around ball than the ProV1.

Re: Ball selection

I am also trying to find a ball that works for me. But price is a factor for me (my wife would kill me for spending $45 for a dozen golf balls when we are in the middle of building a new house). I have tried and really like ProV1x's and the Taylor Made TP Black. I am looking for a ball that has enough bite to stick with my pitch shots but not to much that I am having problems spinning the ball to much. I have played the ProV1 and think that it is a great ball but I was having problems spinning it to much. I had hit some great shots that a spun back off the green. I am not to the point in my game where I can control the spin yet just happy to be able to spin the ball. So basicly I am looking for something comparable to the ProV1x in the $25 to $30 price range. Also I though those 2 balls were more durable than the ProV1's since I use Vokey Spin Milled wedges (by the way best wedges ever) but they are hard on the cover of the ball. Thanks

i wouldnt recommend a callaway ball unless it has the hexagon design. if it doesnt and it's from that company,, it almost seems worthless.

Re: Ball selection

Are you sure distance isn't a concern? Wouldn't you want more distance? I would recommend trying a sleeve and see what works for you. The more you play the more you'll feel the differences in the balls.
