i took my 7th lesson from my pga pro that was actually on tour at one time about last week.

he was helping me work on teeing the ball as high as the tee will let you.

i keep hitting down on it and destroying my club.

he showed me some stuff to do but its just not working yet.

i put masking tape on it so i dont destroy it when i practice but im doing what he says and its just difficult now.

the only way i can hit it straight if i tee it real low now.

Most of it is in the setup. You have to create a driver swing that hits the ball on the upswing especially if you tee it high. Hitting down on the ball with a driver is going to give you some very inconsistent results. Did he work a lot on your setup with the driver or simply just get you to tee it high? There is more to it than moving the ball up in your stance and teeing it high.

when you do hit the ball, does the tee go in the ground or go flying- stay in the same spot??

he didnt really say much about stance,

he told me he wanted it more on the heel of my right foot and to scoot away from the ball a little bit more.

and when i do have a problem its hitting down on it and scuffing my club.

Right Foot??? Hopefully you are a left-handed golfer. Also are you taking a sweeping motion through the ball or are you actually hitting down on the ball like an iron? If you are hitting it like an iron you aren't going to get the results you are looking for. I'm sure your pro is not telling you to hit your woods like an iron?

let me know what each of those mean by the ending tee placement after a drive. Same spot, forward into ground or flying (breaking and destroying the tee as well)?

my pga pro isnt telling me to hit down like an iron, because that is what im doing.

hes telling me catch it on the upsing.

My tee winds up about 3-5 yards behind me after I hit...what does that mean?

One pro told me to tee it off my toe with the shaft pointing toward my navel.

If it gets driven down you swinging in a downward motion on the ball - bending your left arm and hacking the ball.. also notible if you see a big divit in front of the tee

I hesitate to say anything, since your pro should be noticing what you are doing wrong and helping you fix it.

But, a frequent cause of hitting down on the ball with driver is the body sliding forward.

Careful with the loose advice guys...

There is a whole school of thought (Bobby Clampett) that promotes hitting down on the driver...in fact, he wrote a whole book on the subject...

I do this and have found that it breeds consistency as the swing is much more uniform from club to club, woods to irons...
