Hey everyone, its been awhile since I last posted here but I figured that this was a great place to come and seek some help from my fellow Golf Rewinders. That being said, here it is:
I have recently been working hard on my ball striking and now that its where I need it, I have been working on getting my putting stroke better. I have always had the problem of aiming left and pushing my putts out to the right. I have recently been focusing on a more straight forward and back stroke which I have made a lot of progress on lately. However, I am still aiming left, just not intentionally. Basically, I need to retrain my eye so I am aiming more where I need to, rather than aiming left of the hole. I have been pushing putts for so long that aiming way left of the hole looks correct to me, and aiming at the center looks way right to my eye. Does anyone have any drills or solutions to this problem? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks a lo!
Find a level lie with a straight put and place a chalk-line to the hole. Put five footers until your ready to scream. Do this a few times without worrying about straight back and through only rolling the ball with light grip pressure and I bet things will improve.
If you can't find a way to work smart, you could try to work hard! Just hit a ton of putts with your new method. You can do this on the carpet at home, putting to a coin, or another ball, or a cup-sized paper cutout, or whatever... It will come to you!
Practice by setting up square to your target line, then close your eyes before stroking, the object being to settle the direction issue at address. If you are still thinking direction just prior to stroking, you are likely indecisive, which is the cause of many wayward putts. Comfort zone habits are hard to break. Just make up your mind you are going to do so by taking straightshooters advice and hit a ton of practice putts with whichever "squaring" method you choose. My bet is it won't take as long to overcome as originally feared.

Yes, you could pop a chalk line but that could get messy...try a length of bright-colored thread and a couple of tees stretched tightly with one of the tees sunk behind the hole (yes, the thread will split the hole but that will help you realize there's lots of hole there). Keep in mind that the feet shouldn't line up at the hole...they should line up parallel to the line of the putt.
Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm really going to work hard here on using the stripe on the ball and lining up this way. I used to miss every putt to the right doing it this way and now I know why =D.
