You could try making a practice stroke until it seems the right speed, then hit the actual stroke at exactly the same speed. This means being able to duplicate a practice stroke. You have to trust your final judgement and stick with it. The advantage here is that you don't have to calculate the stroke length and acceleration during the stroke.
I have found that when I am tired, my brain does a poorer job of calculating the proper putter speed.
