Cause/Cures for Pushing the Ball??

Hey everyone. The last couple of times i've played i've hit a bunch of pushes which is not normal for me. It's not slicing or fading just going a bit to the right and straight. Usually if i hit a ball solidly it goes straight or maybe has a draw to it. Is there a common cause for a push? i can't seem to figure it out. how can i fix it?? thanks!!!

Usually caused from getting "stuck", i.e. taking the club back inside and not making it completely back to square at impact.

Shade's right!

Try taking it back where the grip feels like it is going well to the outside then make an adjustment to the inside as you start your downswing. I know that sounds drastic; but, if you are taking it too far to the inside it will feel very exaggerated, but in reality, will appear close to normal for an observer or on video. After you hit this way several times, note your ball flight. Have you quit blocking it? If so then take it back on the target line and let it come in naturally without tension and you should be good to go.

One further little tip: As you take the club back and the right elbow folds it will still remain slightly higher than your left for a right hand golfer throughout the backswing. Check it out in a mirror. If it is lower you will wrap the club around yourself.

You may be playing the ball too far back in your stance for the intended shot. I tend to do this very thing when I have "an important shot" to make, and the result is a push. I've learned to take a little more care to insure my ball is in the correct position at these times.
