I've been trying a new swing recently after reading a few tips in golf digest. The thing ive been trying is holding the wrist hinge as long as possible on the downswing and then releasing the club with greater speed at the bottom of the arc in order to compress the ball
I went to the range today and it felt alot purer and consistent, except ive developed about a nasty 6 or 7 yard fade, or slice if you prefer..
Now I know this is probably caused by not squaring up the clubface fast enough but i really like this swing and i would hate to go back to my old inconsistent ways
I guess aim left isnt what you want to hear, eh? In all seriousness, though, if it is a consistent 6 to 7 yard fade, that sounds very controllable to me. Fades are nice for most approach shots, too, since they generally tend to fly a little higher and land a little softer than a draw.
Maybe place the ball just a fraction farther forward in the stance... give the club a millisecond more to close the face. But, really, if your ballflight is pretty darn close to the same every time, play to your strengths and learn to hit a draw when needed.

any suggestions? My grip is as strong as it gets
I found that a later release worked best when I anchored my right elbow as much as I could to my side, stood a little closer to the ball, and made sure I felt my whole torso turning back and through the shot. Keeping that right elbow in made it feel like I was making my swing more compact and my downswing is definitely inside-out. My grip has gone from strong to closer to nuetral.
I've backed off the super-late release to something more natural for me but am still very pleased to see my slice disappear and the ball-roll is now down the fairway instead of a right turn. I'm hitting more fairways and my yardage has increased since I made this change. I do need to make a correction on my iron-shots because I'm pulling slightly left of target but I'm sure I can work it out.

Reason: grammer-spelling
Thank you guys so much!!! I was really anxious to try this out so i grabbed a bunch of **** balls from the garage and headed out back to this large field behind my house
I closed my stance, played the ball slightly more forward, allowed a little more time for the wrists to unhinge and KEPT MY ELBOW CLOSE TO MY BODY!!!! I went from a 6-7 yard fade to a ONE YARD DRAW!! I couldnt believe it either, haha

THANK YOU
The only thing really to be careful of is over time more & more draw will appear.
Of course this is only a problem when missing the green to the left ends in a watery grave for your Titleist (there are other golf balls)
