cant stop the ball

i cant stop the ball on the green at all .unless i hit them straight up in the air.ive ben forced to lay up and bump n run on the greens. that is ok but i feel like im adding a stroke on every hole. i would blame it on the hard greens but when i land on a green there is always a deep divot.i am making good contact .clubs are always clean grooves are good.i dunno. looks like ill just lay up the rest of the season. unless someone has a magic cure for me. i still beat up on my friends almost every time but it would be nice to destroy them once in a while. im not sure if its divot or divit you know what i mean.

Re: cant stop the ball

You have room for a couple more clubs in your bag. A weaker wedge or two might help along with a change of balls.

Re: cant stop the ball

The primary factor for getting the ball to stop is an accelerating clubhead at impact. All the other factors can be in place and if the clubhead is not accelerating, very little spin will be imparted. The higher the rate of acceleration, the more spin, and the quicker the ball stops. This is true from a full shot to a chip. Without knowing more, it's just a guess, but you might try shortening your swing 25%, then deliver the club through the ball with the same velocity as normal, which will help create more acceleration.

Re: cant stop the ball

You might want to read the post just before yours by Bump and Run.Tells you all about how to spin the ball like crazy. Worth reading I think. I just printed a copy of the post and will take it with me to the range to test it out.
