recently my swing has been all right, not the best. i have a natural fade and sometimes slice the ball off the tee. today i went to the range and for some reason i couldn't hit a slice, but instead were hitting hooks, draws, pushes and pulls. more hooks and draws though. with my irons i was hitting all draws. i heard hooks aren't that hard to fix. now the question is should i be happy that my slice is gone or more worried that now i have to fix this hook?
You should wait for more than one range session to base judgement on having or losing something in your swing...
I would be more worried about hitting the ball all over the place than the shape of the shot which for me can vary from day to day...I hit draws on Monday and Tuesday, Tuesday I couldn't fade...Wednesday was wood fade, iron draw with woods workable the other way...today was all draw on woods with no other shape and irons favoring draw but going both ways...part of golf is playing what you've been dealt...that covers lies and the swings that you brought with you...
Wait a couple more times out before you even start to worry about it or start to change you playing philosophy...it could be a phase over in a week, a month, two months, or the next time that you go to the range...only thing for sure is that once you get your swing exactly like you want it, something will go wrong in it somewhere and you're back to digging you swing out of the dirt...never ends...
i would wait it out and work on tempo....i used to have a natural fade....then it went to a vicious snap hook...then to a nice natural draw thats reliable....just work on small things that my tip

YES!!! Not much to say to add to this, but I want to back it up with a resounding "Yes!". One thing that ammys do a lot of is panic. Panic always leads to misinterpretation among other things, misinterpretation leads to incorrect swing thoughts,... thus a domino effect that results in all kinds of bad stuff.
I'm thinking that now when you go to hit a shot you're not sure which way it's gonna go? What are you thinking about when you address the ball? What are you thinking about during your swing? You might not be allowing your body to do what it knows how to because your mind gets in the way! My thoughts to you, don't worry about the result or outcome of the shot before you hit it, just let your body swing and hit the ball where you want it to go.

Valid enough point...but it doesn't hurt to reply, even months later, since someone else may have the exact same problem and may search the board for a solution.
Well since I have not seen your swing, but guessing from what you describe as a natural fade/slicer I would say you changed something in your lower body like either quit turning or sliding the hips and torso. This allows the arms/hands to turn over.
If you naturally slice/fade I would guess you are a slider of the hips and lower body. Anyway take a look at what is going on with the lower body. You want to turn, not slide, and keep turning, not quit during the down swing.
