driver height

Whenever i hit my driver it never gets higher then 15-20 feet off the ground. My tee shot usually slices off the tee. I am lucky if i hit one drive straight all round. I am currently using a titleist 975D with a stiff shaft, however i think that this shaft may be to stiff and this is causing my slice. So does anyone have some advice for improving my driving game?

Could be the stiff shaft also could be the driver loft you did not give the loft of you driver, you may want to find a local club builder that has a launch monitor and get checked out. Had the same problem last year found that my stiff shaft in combination with 8.5 deg loft driver could not get tee shot higher that 10 ft. with no distance. Found that I could out drive my driver using my old 3 wood. I would most definitely get checked out on a launch monitor and go from there.

Hope this helps.

Do you know your shaft's kick point and tip stiffness, this is just as important as the shaft flex. If you can't load it in the downswing you won't like the results. If your shaft is a high kick, stiff tip with a low torque rating you might want to look at a mid to low kick point shaft with a softer tip. You might also want to look at a shaft that has a higher torque rating. Best bet is to try and find a launch monitor and get fitted for your driver shaft. Hope this helps.

Just for poops and giggles, where are you playing the ball in your stance? How high are you teeing it up?

i play the ball about left heel maybe a little further back, i could be way off because i have never been taped or anything. I try to tee the ball up so that half of the ball is above the club when i ground it, but sometimes i will tee it lower.

It is a high kickpoint shaft. A high kickpoint is to help promote lower ball flight. Try to get a Golfsmith or Golfworks catalog you can look up most shaft specs that way. Are you planning on changing shafts yourself or do you know a clubfitter/clubmaker that can help you? You need to get fitted for the proper shaft inorder to save the most money. Otherwise you will have to experiment till you find the right one. For you I am betting low kick, soft tip, torque around 3.0, stiff flex.

P.S. You can also go to their websites or try www.clubmaker-online.com and look up shaft specs.
