grip troubles

I've been struggling with my grip lately and hooking some shots. I wonder if my grip is too strong. Can someone explain STEP BY STEP how they put their hands on the club? Also, when you are putting your left hand on the club, do you apply it to the SIDE of the club or more towards the bottom and then let the hand turn over the club? Thanks.

Try this, take your normal address, let your arms hang naturally with the grip resting in your left hand. When you grip you should see 2-3 knuckles of the left hand, assuming you are righthanded. Place your righthand on the club at about the same offset as your left, but do not rest your right thumb on top of the shaft. If you still have troubles with a hook, try adjusting your grip weaker, so you only see one knuckle at address. If this doesn't work get a lesson from a good teaching pro. Hope this helps.

I found it well worth spending a small amount of money to get lessons from a golf pro down my local driving range.

Someone showing you exactly where you are going wrong helps a great deal.
