I'm wondering what you all do to keep your energy up during a round? I find myself getting tired late in the round so I tried to change my meal before I play to healthier foods. It seems to help when I manage to stick to it. Do you take food with you on the course? What kinds? The last time I played 18, I played the front 4 over and the back 9 over. I think fatigue played a large role in it.
I make sure that I keep myself hydrated by drinking water before and during play; consuming a healthful breakfast; and eating a banana, apple, and a tube or two of Skippy peanut butter during the round.I don't play any better, but I don't get as fatigued as I used to before starting this regimen.
I might snack a little, a Snickers bar or something, but have never really had too much of a hunger problem playing. If the beverage cart comes buy I might buy a bag of peanuts(these go great with beer Forged ) If going out early I will bring or buy a muffin or bagel.
Heat and humidity are what do me in. I drink as much water as I can before and during the round. Also a "sports drink" at the turn - Gatorade, or something else. I stay away from eating during the round.
If its really hot and humid I conserve my energy by riding.

Goes for me, too. I always eat something light before going out, but keeping hydrated is the key for me. If I don't, I'll have a brief spell of lightheadedness when I stand up from reading a putt. Must be some kind of penalty for moving your ball as a result of passing out and falling on it. Gotta avoid that.
Make SURE to drink BOTH water and an electrolyte replacement drink. I use "Cytomax", which is a cycling product. I also carry 1-2 energy gels, most commonly "GU", or "PowerGel".
I don't carry too much food, but try to eat healthy - fruit if possible, or maybe something a little bit more substantial. I know it's bad for you, but I almost always hav a hotdog at the turn.
i would usually eat a good breakfast before a round of golf, and sustain myself by drinking lots of water, and i would sometimes have sandwiches out with me. i also always carry a banana or two, to eat around the 15th hole.
I also like to keep hydrated and drink water before and during the round. If things are not going well, I have been known to consume one or two Smirnoff Ices while we play!! I carry a Power Bar or granola bar with me if I get hungry, but don't like to carry fruit with me as I'm sure to forget about it and find it a week later in the bag!!!
For me, sammiches, granola bars, Gatorade or another sports drink INSTEAD OF water to replace all those lost salts. I wait for the beer afterwards at the clubhouse. I usually nibble all throughout the round vs. waiting til I'm hungry and binging.
Just me...
try not to eat before i play. full stomach makes me tired. drink water with lots of whiskey, unless it's an important tournament, lol. then a snickers sometime when things start going bad to change the tide. usually works.
just a thought, focus on the match and less on food if possible. lol. let's all get hydrated, lol.
i always eat a big ol omelette with an english muffin and a protein shake about 30 minutes prior to leaving and drink my coffee to get me going.........
on the course lots of water or gatorade but i will admit that darn beverage cart gets me into trouble eveytime with beer and hot dogs.......
usually take some fruit and nuts to get some energy.....
darn beverage cart!!!

I started eating a lot better this mid summer because my girlfriend is into health food (actually I havn't eaten a candy bar since I met her), but I started eating a lot more fruits and veggies, and stop drinking so much soda, and drink a lot more water, and I've felt better and had a lot more energy since. I eat something before I play, and I usually buy some crackers at the club house, and take them with me, and drink LOTS of water, and I usually feel pretty good. Actually, from golfing and eating better I dropped 25 pounds in the last three months although I really wasn't trying.
