Hi Guys,
New to this forum and have played the game of golf on and off since 1972. Never have been a great player, was down to a 9 handicap at one time. Quit playing in 03 and restarted this last summer. Starting over ***** you seem to lose every part of your game.
Saw allatoonagolf11's thread on the infamous slicing problem. I too was a notorious slicer and constantly frustruated with it. Two swing corrections have fixed my slice and am now hitting straight down the fairway 75 to 80% of drives. My issue was mainly swinging outside in, which is the major contributer of the slice. So I addressed this by focusing on swinging from inside to out.
1. Keep that right arm close to the body on the bottom of the downswing. More years ago than I like to think about, my longest, straightest drives resulted in scratching the inside of my right forarm on the rivets of my jeans waistband.
2. Contact of the ball. The driver clubface should make contact with the ball on the lower left quadrant of the ball. Maintain that swingthought, picture hitting the ball there, at first you may feel that the ball will go straight right.
Give that a try. Practice alot, I play 18 hole one weekend and practice 3 to four hours the next. Good facility where I play you can practice all parts of the game.
This has certainly helped me
