Now with feet shoulder width, or a little narrower, turn your shoulders like in a backswing. Look at yourself and you should see a straight line from your shoulder ALL THE WAY down to your foot. Now stand with feet REALLY wide, a foot wider for exageration and do the same thing. You will notice a reverse pivot. A wide stance is a good thing, a too wide stance is a very bad thing
I think you're pretty close to correct with that analysis. I noticed myself that my stance was a little wider than it normally is. I made my stance a litte more narrow and I was back to hitting the ball solid again. It was really annoying too, because this just popped up out of nowhere that I was fading and slicing. I was playing probably the best golf of my life, and then two weeks after one of my best rounds ever I start this fading and slicing ****, and now that I step back and think about it, my stance has gotten a little wider it seems with each passing week, I just never though about it until really last night.

If you are right handed you should see a straight line down the right side of your body at the top of the backswing. basically your chest down to your foot. should be just about straight up and down.

A half hour lesson with any pro !
trick is . ask him to teach you to "hook"
very very easy to learn . and the offshoot - you will learn why you have been slicing . and can now bend it both ways
you can experiment from there as to hit straightISH
hardest thing in golf hitting straight! Pro's will milk you for thousands teaching this

1. Have a pro check your grip and make sure it is neutral or a bit strong (as in position not strength) if you have weak or small wrists.

2. Align your feet, hips and shoulders parallel to the target line.

3. Start the club away from the ball low and slightly brushing the grass around toward the back foot for about 12" then go about the backswing.

4. At the top of you back swing think of swinging to target not to the ball.

5. Work on sweeping or stroking though the where the ball lies (eliminate the words Hit the Ball from your thoughts).
