I pull my irons, and slice my woods!

My irons aren't as bad anymore, I think now I'm hitting a power draw so it starts right and comes back left. Still, I don't like the draw entirely because it takes away from my accuracy when it doesn't start right, but straight or even a bit left and keeps going. I've tried to take divots going outside to in, trying to create more of a fade, but it hasn't worked so far.

Conversely, I have a slice with my woods! It's gotten to the point where I try to hit 3-iron off the tee when I should hit driver, just because I don't trust it! The problem's especially bad on this hole at my course where there is a large group of menacing trees off to the right of the landing area.

Have you gotten the impression that I need help yet???

how fast is your swing speed? You should have around 110 or higher before you need a stiff driver shaft.....this could be part of your problem with slicing woods.

plus your woods are longer....therefore more tendancey to slice them. The shorter the club, the easier to control. I dont' want to attempt to fix you becasuse I cannot see you swing though...just giving some basic probable causes.

In case you are confused, the set in my sig is the clubs that I want, not what I have. I don't have a single club from that set. My driver has a regular flex shaft, and I think (no, I am very confident) that my swing speed is less than 110.

I actually have more of a problem with my irons than with my woods. Sometimes I can fix the swing with my driver and 3-wood, if only temporarily, but my irons consistently draw or even hook. Any suggestions?

I could really be a number of things causing the problems. To strong of grip, to much inside out swing motion, closed clubface, wrong weight shift.

I suggest checking out www.golfonline.com for some good tips.

Yeah I've cured my woods. What about my irons? No matter how hard I try, I can't get it to go as inside-out as I would like. I'm always doing and outside-to-inside swing path with my irons. Any tips?

you want inside out with your irons? When i go inside out i pull the ball hard, it usually happens when i swing hard.

The outside-inside swing is usually caused by overusing the arms hands in the swing, trying to hit the ball further. Do you take the club away in a one-piece-takeaway from a relaxed centre keeping a constant spine angle? Is your mental focus the target? Do you get the feeling of not 'hitting the ball' or can you feel your hands hitting the ball? Are you keeping your head behind the ball till after the club has passed through the line? Do you rotate around a centre to the target? Have you got a balanced follow through. Just a few things that you could consider. Simply relaxing the hands arms and swinging freely through the targetline on which the ball sits may be enough.

Wow, swingezy, that's a lot to take in. I dunno if I'll be able to keep all those things in my head at once, but I'll see what I can do.

Based on your initial description of the problem, my first visualization of your swing is one that is extremely inside on the take-away. With the shorter-middle irons, you can get away with it and as you see you will hit a hard draw with that kind of an approach to the ball. However, when you make the longer swing with the woods, your club gets "trapped" behind the body forcing you to swing over-the-top or outside-in resulting in the slice. Take the club a little straighter back so that at the top of your swing, you could pull the butt of the grip back to the ball with no manipulation...this little self-check will tell you whether your club is getting behind you or not.

OK I think I messed up. I think I WANT the outside-to-inside swing path, but I'm FIGHTING the inside-to-outside one. That is, if outside-to-inside produces a fade and inside-to-outside produces a draw. I'm confused
