Re: What can I learn from these numbers?

trump; I don't think those numbers are USELESS at all. You now have some data to work with to improve your distance off the tee with your driver. Launch angle is WAY TOO LOW. Should be closer to 14 to 16* for max carry. SPIN rate is TOO high for max carry. What I'd recommend is that you try a TALLER tee height to raise your launch angle and LOWER your back spin rate at the same time. You also mention that you hit your irons too low, so I'm making a guess here that you are hitting DOWN on the ball with your driver rather than UP like you should be doing. AS for your long irons, you might want to demo some irons with the Rifle Flighted shafts. These shafts are designed to hit the ball HIGHER with the longer irons, exactly what you are looking for. While your speed is excellant and your distance good, I believe you can use the data you got to increase your carry a good 20 yards or so. I would also recommend that your use your current ball when you have a fitting like this. The ball you play can have a pretty big impact on the numbers you get with a fitting. The ball you use will effect spin rate, so use your own balls next time. I'd like to see your spin rate under 3,000 and as close to 2500 as you can get it.

Re: What can I learn from these numbers?

Since posting this I have played 2 rounds. I used a different driver than the one I tested with, it was 9.5* with a stiff shaft. I used a 10.5* with a regular flex. This combined with the ground being so hard I could barely get the tee in the ground so I was teeing it much higher made a world of difference.

I hit the driver longer and straighter than I can ever remember. Can it be that simple?
I'm actually a little afraid of researching these numbers much more. I have spent alot of time looking into this. I feel paralysis by analysis setting in.

OnePutt-
I did some research on the different kinds of balls and what their supposed specialty is. I have settled on the Nike One Platinum. It supposed to help the player that has a low ball flight. If that doesn't work, I am going to try the Rifle Flighted shafts you recommended. The input is appreciated..

Re: What can I learn from these numbers?

Trump. Seems you were forced by the cold to tee the ball up pretty much like I recommend you try. And I'm not surprised that it worked for you, it usually does. I have also been impressed with the Nike One balls, both the Platinum and the Black. I dont' remember whiich ball gives the most spin as it's been awhile since I used them, but I like the higher spin ball more for the really hard greens we have where I play. Good luck with your search for a better game.

This explains why some clubs make you a better swinger even though it does not fit your current swing in any logical sense. More reason to try more clubs with Magic in it. After spending $250 (because I didn't buy anything) with a certified fitter and working hard for 4 hours without any results to show. I am not sure I'll ever go back to fitting. Yes, teacher who knows your swing who happens to be a fitter might be ideal but only the lucky ones have a teacher they can trust and the combination of two might just be impossible.

I'm sorry to hear of this experience. Unfortunately it happens this way all too often.

This is why I specify you should see a fitter who is also a teacher. Preferrably you have your teacher be your fitter... but chances are they don't know equipment all that well. Most golf instructors focus on the player and try to fix the swing. It's not very often a teacher thinks of equipment as the source of a problem unless it's very very obvious.
