I am a new golfer roughly 1 year.I have had a few lessons and started hitting the ball well.I go to practice today and cannot do anthing fluid and am just out of sync.It is almost like I have never swung a club.Is this a common problem to even experienced golfers?I am beyond frustrated.
Yes it is a pretty common experience. Every player goes thru this from time to time. If this is the first time this happened to you don't let it bother you too much. I like to spend some time reviewing my practice and try to figure out what wasn't working. If you figure it out you can work on next time out. If not, start your practice session with your favorite club and try to get in a little groove before moving to the clubs you were struggling with. If nothing seems to work for you maybe you can hit up your teacher for a few pointers.
Most important is to not let this bother you too much. You are going to struggle as you learn the game. The most important thing is learn the fundamentals, try to build a swing you can trust and understand, and have fun. Frustration is is going to happen but get over it as quickly as you can, your supposed to be having fun, otherwise what's the point.
And welcome to the board. I should have started this message with that.
Trumptight is right. It happens to most everyone to varying degrees. Those of us that have been doing it for a while have a strategy to get ourselves out of it. I call it giving myself "lesson one". Go back and review in your mind what your instructor told you. Check your grip, alignment, posture, and ball position any one of these or a combination can cause the swing to leave you. Get it back by rediscovering your fundamentals.
Welcome to GR. Go back and visit some of the previous threads. You will find some help there too.
Good Luck,

Yes, but you've only been playing a year...wait until that very same feeling hits you after 20 years of dedicated play. Wait until that feeling hits you just before the last round of the club championship that you're leading. What then? Can you spell p-a-n-i-c?
Yes, it happens to everyone at some point...and for some of us, it never completely goes away and rears it's ugly head now and again. But, by the same token, it always goes away so don't sweat it.
Welcome to the site New Golfer. And YES, it happens to just about everyone at some point. I remember about 5 years ago when it happened to me. I went to the driving range 4 days in a row to hit a small bucket of about 45 balls. First three days I hit maybe 4 or 5 shots that I felt were pretty bad. But 40 good shots wasn't too bad. On the fourth day, I hit maybe 4 or 5 GOOD SHOTS. All the rest were total garbage. I couldn't believe it after the first 3 days. That was about as close as I've ever come to just throwing all my clubs in the trash and giving up this fool game.
Welcome aboard New Golfer. As noted above, to play golf over the years is to go through a bunch of mountaintops and deep, dark valleys. It generally takes about 3 to 4 years to learn the basics of this wonderful, but maddening game. Stick with your teaching pro and a good practice routine and you'll reach your potential. It just takes time. And sweat, and money, and blood, and divorces, and antidepressants, and rehab, and ....
