Lower right leg shin pain

Hey Y'all...

I've been experiencing some pain and discomfort while and after playing on my right shin. Has anyone ever felt this before? It takes about at leat 2 hours after a round for the pain to go away. Any ideas on what can cause this?

HELP !!!

Re: Lower right leg shin pain

Hi Bone,
Probably the most likely thing is " shin splints ". These can be pretty painful, usually located toward the outer middle of your shin, an area around 5 inches in size. You can run a search on the internet and find lots of information about them I'm sure. It's generally associated with overuse or just beginning an exercise regimen. I would recommend ice applied after you exercise or play golf. That's my solution for everything but a " duck hook ".
Cheers,
Bob

Thanks Bob,

I was doing some checking and I read up on it and sure enough, it sounds exactly like what I'm suffering from. Thank you

Re: Lower right leg shin pain

I'm glad you have a method of dealing with the painful symptoms, but you might try seeing a podiatrist to work on the causes. I had some problems (and more) like yours some years ago and went to see a podiatrist who lived near me. He found that my golf shoes were causing me to walk just a bit differently that my regular shoes and running shoes. He devised small wedges to place inside my golf shoes and I began to play pain free almost immediately.

Re: Lower right leg shin pain

I'd have to agree with Billyg. Great to deal with the symptoms, but better off to fix the cause of the problem!

Probably worth your while to touch bases with a podiatrist or chiropractor who can assess your feet, gait, shoe selection to make sure everything is functioning properly.

Often an overuse injury, so maybe you're just golfing too much ; ) Is there such thing?!

At any rate, deal with the symptoms, and you can also do some simple strengthening work for the muscles on the front of your leg to help prevent any reoccurrence.

Cheers,
Doctor K
