Focus Point

I felt really strange today because when i stepped ov the ball my head was going everywhere. I just wanna know what i should focus my eyes on just before i start the backswing.

Focus on the grass and swinging to the target. The club should stroke the grass for about 6 to 8", this is the impact area where the ball lies.

This is excellent advice....taking the ball out of the equation and swinging through the line.

I personally focus on the leading edge of my club face and when I feel the centre and hands are relaxed totally and the tension towards the target is felt in the centre, I begin the back swing and remain focused on the point where the leading edge used to be. If there has been relaxed but firm connection at the beginning there will be a return of hands and centre together at impact. My key thought is: If it is right at the beginning it will be right at the end. It works perfectly for me making arrow straight shots when done properly. I keep the head at the same relative distance from the position at address rather than worry too much about what the eyes are focused on. The eyes can stay still while the head keeps bobbing around so the eyes do not necessarily keep the head in its correct position. The head can move laterally but not vertically without spoiling the swing too much, so keeping the focal distance constant is what I aim to do until after impact .

The head must never move laterally forward...back a little is ok, but a steady head is the best.

I look at the back of the ball but don't become "ball-focused" because I don't care about the whole ball, just that one point. Focusing where the leading edge of the club used to be is fine so long as you don't get in the habit of watching the clubhead go back...also important in putting.

I have a chronic slice too; perhaps you saw my thread.

I think it's from moving my head too much, I have to maintain focus on a certain point and stick to it, rather than looking every which way.
