Swing Speed

Hello all --

After playing a [terrible] round of golf this morning at 7:30, I headed up to the golf store to pick up my replacement Golden Bear 5 iron; my other one had cracked on the shaft.

While waiting for a sales rep, I went to the practice / demo nets and used whatever lefty club I could find on the demo shelf (mostly outdated clubs). I setup the little swing speed device that tells how you fast you're swinging. I didn't quite know how to set it up; I pointed it to the tee which I was swinging at (no ball). I swung my normal swing and it said 81 mph?!?!?! I was shocked and disappointed as I honestly thought it would read faster. I'm not that weak/unathletic!!!

Any opinions/tips? I've been playing since April (never picked up a club before that).

What club were you swinging? If it is a Driver I'm sure you had the device set up wrong....an 81mph swing is very slow.

Now that I read your post again I see you've only been playing since april...81mph isn't that bad for only playing for 6 months or so around there. You're swing speed will come with time, its all about getting your mind, arms, legs, and hips working as one...

Like I said above too, the device may have been set up wrong...I know alot of them you have to have a magnetic thingy applied to the end of the club you're using, then set the device up for whatever club you're using for the best reading...Really only way to tell is go somewhere with a decent machine..

Hope this helps.
