Yea I was talking to a pro about my swing speed and he threw me onto a launch monitor. It ended up saying that my swing speed was 105 with the driver which is alright, but over the winter im going to try to strengthen my muscles to be more flexible. It will be alot of training but I intend on being a scratch next year.

Right now I've been hitting it big, 290 to 310 true, I don't like when people inflate their number to sound better. A couple weeks ago on a 540 yard par 5 I hit my drive to the 195 marker. And being 5'8" 115 I tend to surprise alot of people.
105 mph equals 290-310 is that because you play in high altitude? down here in florida my swing speed of 108+ only gets me 275 with an occasional 300 when I really hit it good
Hey, you could maximize your swing if you got more shoulder turn. In those swings you dont even get them to 90 degrees. Looking at your build I think you should be able to get to 110 degrees at least.

Would you consider yourself strong, or simply flexible?
I'm honestly not sure why I get so much distance with that swingspeed, its kind of out of the ordinary. But after talking to some pros trying to figure out why that happens most told me that my hands accelerate impact so fast and the club head is at a good position. If you look at my driver face the marks are primarily in the middle high part of the face, its a 580XD so I need to hit it high in the face. As for being flexible or strong, I think I'm more flexible but in certain area strong. From taking about eight years of karate I've become fairly flexible. As for being strong, I'm not muscle built and I probably couldn't win a fist fight with a football player, but I can hit a 6 iron out of high grass when I need too. Its not because I swing hard its because I increase my acceleration.

I completely gotcha. I have found out just yesterday that swinging hard does NOT by any means equate to hitting far, in fact just the opposite, as you are substantially more likely to come over the top, or otherwise misswing.
I am not very strong, but not weak either, and somewhat flexible. For instance, I theoretically could, on my backswing, come up to the point where my shaft is pointing directly perpendicular to the target line.
I feel if I "throw out" my wrists to left field (I'm a lefty), as my instructor put it, I can get some substantial distance. But my out-to-in swing path was causing my 5-iron to only hit 150, 7-iron 130, 9-iron 100-110, etc.
To me, it feels like I'm not swinging hard, but that's because I've ingrained it in my muscle memory. My instructor said I am trying to whack it so hard that I'll never get anything out if it. lol
But he says I have some potential, and that keeps me going in this god-awful frustrating game.
Would you happen to have video of your driver swing? I'd be interested to see what a 300 yard swing from someone your size looks like. Your new iron swing looks like it can give you more consistent contact with irons, so I'd just like to see how that translates to still generating power with your driver.
Personally, I thought your old swing looked really good (particularly from the front view). What was it about the old swing that caused you to change it?
I found myself not being in the right position at the top and turning my hands over way too much. At impact I wasn't in the same position on each swing. There was just too much variance in my swing and I lost accuracy and distance. Now with my new swing I'm in the same position at impact and my distance has increase by a ton. It may be a while until I can get a video of me hitting a driver because I'm back at College. I may be able to get to a local range when I get some time. But I know I definatly can get it when I go to Florida in January, or if I play in Aruba in November, which I'm not sure if I am or not. I'll try to get one for you.
