I dont see breathing mentioned with Golf, except for in-soles and waterproof jackets...
We all know how important it is to increase strength and help avoid injury when working out... This is mentioned all the time in the gym, and even more doing Yoga or Pilates...
Using common sense I reckon we should inhale when doing the back swing and exhale doing the swing, anyone does this...

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! you got it.
There was a short period of time when like tennis a few teachers taught grunting when making contact to make sure you where exhaling. I played with a pro that did this and it was funny and it bothered me. She was about 5'2" and she hit it far so like Gary Player she experimented with lots of things to get more distance and she did.
Tour players are always taught to practice correct beathing and I have found that yoga, and many other asian arts help players find their center from which they creat power through impact.
Next time you stand over a putt, ask yourself, "Do I inhale or exhale when I make my stroke?"
That is the reason breathing isn't discussed. Instruction rarely discusses the things leading up to a shot. And breathing is important PRIOR to the execution of the shot...

I completely agree. I was watching the WGC on TV today, and I saw Sergio Garcia take a nice deep breath, let it out, step up, and smack a perfect 3 wood.
I should do them more often, but I'm so preoccupied, I forget.

Forget Golf for a moment, I know nothing about that, but regarding the swing, as with any other body movement, breathing is paramount to get strenght and avoid injury, not only do you have more "energy", but exhaling your back is better supported, abs and back muscles are contracted, so you should be more accurate...
My tendency, unless I control it, is to hold my breath when I swing, or any other movement, bowling for instance, that wont help anyone play well...
I asked my golf trainner about this subject and he said it is indeed very important, he does some kind of exercise to increase his breathing capacity, we do that on Yoga too, but he doesnt mention it to beginners because there is already a lot to think about...
Antway I tried breathing properly during yesterday´s lesson and I felt it helped me be more consistent...

My tendency has always been to take a deep breath in through the nose and exhale through the mouth during setup-then hold breath during swing. This allows you to yell %^&$ much quicker and louder immediately following impact...just kidding. There are plenty of other ways to find an extra few yards off the tee, and I've never even come close to injuring myself swinging a golf club, so those are not even factors for me. In my opinion, amateur golfers have enough problems with their(our) swings-add "breath timing" to the other issues and you've opened a whole new can of worms.

Of course you are right, this is my little Yoga/Pilates experience talking loud...
Still, I think it makes sense, and it didnt appear to be very complicated to inhale going back, exhale going forward...
A friend of mine taught me this great relaxation tip when on the teebox, or anytime before hitting a shot:
* Stand tall with your eyes closed, hands at your side
* Breath deep and easy, all muscles should be relaxed.
* AS you exhale slowly, say (under your breath of course): "ONE" This is sort of like the old Asian "OOOHHHHMMMM" when you see people meditating
* Remember - shoulders loose, no tension, and eyes closed. Don't have any thoughts in your head other than saying "OOOONNNNNEEEEE" very slowly as you exhale.
For some reason, this puts me in a very relaxed state before hitting a teeshot. Seems to work for me!
An old golf lesson is to breathe in and hum during the swing. The hum should not stop or change pitch during the swing. Others try to exhale at inpact.
