three quarter punch.....

Today I played nine holes trying to bring my game from the range to the course. By today's play I was successful for the most part. I didn't take my driver out until the fifth hole which proved to be useful. I also used a bunch of three quarter punch type shots. I shot 38 with three bogeys and a birdie. I hit some very good shots when i used three quarter. I was surprised the ease and room for error when swinging. I was allowed to swing aggresively.

I also wanted to ask about knee flex. Because I used to take little knee flex, teachers and books have always said that you flex just a little. But today I worked on having alittle more knee flex than usual and starting hitting the ball a lot more flush. Is there any reason for this?

Little knee flex advice is to reduce the margin for error. Sound like you have a good touch.. go for it

Good posture requires to have knee flex and a bend from the hips to get into an athletic balanced position. This balanced posture and being the right distance from the ball will make you more stable and allows you to hit the ball more solid. All great ball strikers that I have known or read about, say they swing with 60- 80 % of their power. A 3/4 feeling swing would be correct. Keep it up and don't get greedy like I have a tendency to do.

I've found that by using a 3/4 swing my balance does not get thrown off and I make much better contact as I follow through the ball. I also noticed that by making a 3/4 swing and keeping my arms loose, I'm able to keep my left arm straight through the downswing and on through the ball. My consistency has showed in the past month. Thanks to the Golf Rewind Forum. :nodsmiley

I agree with Gary and the rest of the posts here.

To add to these great thoughts, any bend in a joint adds leverage to an athletic move.
