Hello all need some help over here. I've been playing for years and cant seem to get over the next barrier. I shoot in the low 90's and I hit the ball decent. The short game isnt bad, I can get up and down probably 50% of the time. What can anyone suggest to inprove my ability to hit it more online more consistantly. I tend to push or pull about every other shot, not bad, but I cant seem to hit the fairway or the fat part of the green with enough regularity to score well.
If you're getting it up & down 50% of the time then your short game is better than "not bad". You have the most improtant part of the game down. So here's the boilerplate advice... take a couple of lessons. It probably wouldn't take more than 2 or 3 to get the kinks in your full swing ironed out. Good luck.
If you are always pushing and pulling I would suspect, like 90% of all golfers, that your swingpath is off and you are coming over the top "casting". go take lessons and a pro will help you with that
If you are hitting pulls and pushes, check your alignment. If you are aimed too far to the right, that would cause your shots and throw off your timing. If you are aimed all right, then you are rotating your body through impact too early causing pulls or if you rotate way too early you will be out ahead of the hands and hit it right.
well jlm I was in the same boat as you, and i when i went ahead and got those lessons which was only 2 months ago...the pro told me my swing plane was real bad. im not gonna say that im a great golfer now but i hit the ball so much more solidly and to be honest its effortless compared to my old swing, see the thing is i played baseball for 20+ years and i had a small hitch in my back swing from playing ball. my golf swing wasnt one fluid motion, and it needs to be. The best advice i can give is like all the other posters here, GO OUT and BUY SOME QAULITY LESSONS! at first it really sucked for me because i wasnt hitting anything good anymore but with time and the drills they give u will be on your way to become a very good ball striker. i hope u do well with the lessons. be patient it will all come together, and never stop practicing.
I think I've been told that before. My next question would be how much would having my equip fitted for me help or not having it fitted hurt?
I actually think fitted clubs would help alot. I work part time at a course pro shop and our pro fitted me for the first time last summer. It has helped my game alot.
