Thanks for the advice..more details on Equipment

Thanks to all of you for your advice on breakin that next scoring barrier. I wonder if you have some thoughts on Equip. Last night I went to get at least measured to see what I should be hitting. The guy who helped me told me that I was 3 degrees up and one inch longer shaft. No problem, he also said I couldnt have my 360xds bent cause they were cast not forged. Is this true? I also play a Titleist 975 L-FE. His opinion was that this driver was completly wrong for me. He suggested a 983 K. I didnt feel much of a difference in hitting it. I shudder at the thought of buying all new irons and a new driver? Gratefull for any advice.

Most cast clubs cannot be bent at the metal is much less maleable. The 975L-FE is a fade bias whereas the 983K is a draw bias. I just sold my 975J-VS which was draw bias as well.

So because I hit a slight draw with the driver when I hit one good, then I should be hitting a draw biased club? Would hitting the FE have a serious affect on the shot due to my natural tendancy to draw it?

I though cast clubs could be bent, but recommended not more than 2 degrees. the only cast clubs I know of that you cannot change the lie on are the Clevelands.

I have been successful bending some cast sets but I have also heated it slightly just to make sure before bending. I have luckily never had a hosel snap on me.

I'd like to have my irons bent 2 degrees up, can I go to any old shop or would I have to try it myself?

Do you have a loft/lie machine? You would want an experienced club repair person to do the work. Although it isn't hard to do once you are familiar with the machine, there is a little feel to it that prevents you from breaking the hosel.

I depends on the bias of your current driver. Hitting the FE may just strighten out your shots.

So rather than changing the driver, would you suggest that I continue to improve my swing through lessons and practice. Thank you for your time.

If you like your current driver and are happy with the results, why change? Unless you want a new one just because there is a good deal (like what I just did).
