Almost a year/skins

Well its hard to believe but me and the rest of my group of newbie golfers are approaching a years worth of golf. Unfortunately our scores have not really improved much but the ball is staying on the course now and we have gone from the slow group to the group waiting. We have become "regulars" on the course we play and have pretty much free reign and are well acquainted with the employees and other golfers.

Obviously with only a years experience and a average score hovering around the three digit numbers I cant even begin to tell you anything about how to swing a golf club, but I can give this advice for other rookies that play at this level and that would be to forget about stroke play for the time being. A skins game is much more fun but still leaves an element of competition.

My group started doing this about a month ago and the fun to frustration level has become much more acceptable. Every hole is a new game and on those blow up holes you can just reach down and pick up your ball knowing that you are still very much in the game.

I don't know when or if our scores will start to improve but we were definitely at a point where we had to find a way to have more fun on the course and a skins game seems to have been the answer for us.

I have found when we play "Ryder Cup" or a matchplay situation, it helps lower your score in the end. Blow up holes are a lot easier to get back from, and it just makes it a good competative fun atomosphere. My golfing buddies have even taken this idea to the range, play closest to the pin out of 3 shots etc. Makes for good practice when you have something on the line and a valid target!

Great advice for begginners and itermediate golfers!

Thos score will drop below the triples digits before you know it. Keep up the good work.
