Inconsistent bottom of arc/divots

Hello. The bottom of my swing arc is all over the place: sometimes creating a deep divot behind the ball, sometimes barely reaching the turf or even whiffing over the top of the ball. This even happens on my practice swings. Naturally, this results in frequent fat and topped/thin shots when I actually strike the ball.

Can anyone provide insights as to what causes such an erratic radius and either drills or swing aids to correct this? Thank you very much.

Do a couple of these small rehersal swings:

Prior to every shot take a small swing forward and back with out stopping as you touch the grass for about 8 inches both ways.

You can also think of the word ball or grass spelled on the ground (in the impact area) and make sure you take all the letters back and through without stopping.

Feeling the timing requred to do this is what these practice swings will teach you.

your rear knee is probably all over the place. THe position it is at address is the position it should be at the top of the backswing.

Yes, check your rear knee. If you have it at a flexed position in the setup, and then go to a non-flexed version at the top of your backswing, you're going to get a good ole' reverse pivot more than likely.

Someone here told me to put my feet together and hit balls with a 7 iron. I dont remember who it was but I think it might help as I was doing the same thing
