My two favorite golf courses on Oahu are Kapolei Golf Course and the Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay. They are both kind of far from Honolulu.
Kapolei Golf Course has GPS on their golf carts. It's also a nice layout with water on a lot of the holes. They hosted an LPGA Tournament at the course in the past. The clubhouse is also good for a nice meal at decent prices after the round.
The Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay is the current home of the LPGA Tour event the SBS Open. It is a resort course so I would imagine it is quite expensive for those from out of state (local residents get "kama'aina" discounts). They also offer caddies there who can help you with yardages and reading greens. Despite being in Hawaii, not many courses on Oahu have holes along the ocean but this course has some.
Mamala Bay at Hickam Air Force Base has a lot of personality if you are in the military or know someone who can sponsor you on base. It is located right by the reef runway so you can see all of the planes taxiing and taking off/landing. This means it can get quite loud at times but I found the "uniqueness" of it to be well worth the noise. It also has a number of holes situated right along the ocean which makes for a lot of beautiful views.
Of the municipal courses, my favorite is Ewa Villages Golf Course. It is maintained quite well and is a class above any of the other municipal course out there.
I'm headed for Oahu next month. My son in law is retired military and lives in Honolulu so he will have access to the military courses. Which ones would you suggest. Neither of us are great golfers, both shooting in the 90's generally.

Hi, the only military course I've played at is at Mamala Bay on Hickam Air Force Base.
From what I hear, the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course is usually regarded as the best military golf course on Oahu. Here is a link: http://www.mccshawaii.com/golf.htm
There are several holes that are right along the ocean and I hear it is just beautiful.
If you can only play one military course while on Oahu, play the Kaneohe Klipper. If you can only play two, then play the Mamala Bay at Hickam Air Force Base next. At Hickam, there are two golf courses, one is a par 3 course so make sure you head to the right one.
If you have any other questions regarding golf or anything else, let me know. Have a great time in Hawaii!
Besides the courses mentioned above, you might also want to check out Ko'olau Golf Club. Named the #1 golf course on Oahu by Golf Digest, Ko`olau Golf Club is known as the world's most challenging and spectacular golf course. Ko`olau is one of the most inspiring golf experiences you will ever play - anywhere in the world
Thanks for all the info guys. I'm going to Oahu this September for a week. Plan on hitting 2 or 3 of the military courses and one regular one. Trying to find the best "one" to go to. If you could only hit one, which one would it be and why? Thanks.
If I could only play one, I would probably play the Palmer Course at Turtle Bay as mentioned. I created a wiki on the course: Palmer Course
Ko'olau is a good course, too but it's really challenging as mentioned. If it's been raining recently, conditions might not be that great either. If you're in for a challenge, though, you might want to check it out.
I agree with all of the above mentioned courses as well. I am still trying to play Ko'olau and Turtle Bay. My personal favorite that I have played so far still has to be Luana Hills. no ocean views, but the mountain views are incredible, and the changes in altitude are nice also.
you lot must have a hard life, the strain of picking what course to play in Hawaii must be terrible (officially jealous as h**l),you lucky people we probably wont see much of the sun untill april.
