Hey everyone

Stopping in to say hey. My name is Chris and I'm in NY. Look forward to making some contributions.

A bit about me, I'm working on getting my game back to where it used to be. I was playing a 2.3 index in high school, then left for college and never had time to play. Being away from the game reignited the fire I once had when I was playing well. At this point, I've been out twice this season, and came in with a 77 from the tips (7133yds on the card) at Centennial Golf Club last Wednesday, and this past Sunday, shot an 82 from the new, stretched out tips in preparation for 2009 U.S.. 2002, the official yardage from the old tips was 7214yds. I'd guess its playing about 100yds, maybe a bit longer right now. I'm pretty satisfied with the two I logged for the year.

At this point, I'll need to work on fine tuning my approach shots, and getting back into finding different lines. I gave up a bunch of 5-8's that should've ended up in the bottom of the cup.

Anyway, that's me as a golfer.

Oh, by the way...I'm looking into getting my father a new set of irons. He is 55yrs old, and plays to a 7-8 during the prime season. He's playing a set of Hogan Apex's, but I see that his game isnt where it used to be and isn't solidly hitting the ball.

I've got a set that I'm considering, the Ping G2s. Any other performance clubs out there to consider? I'm thinking all my dad needs, is a club that is a little easier to hit. I'm thinking the X-18 Pros would make a nice hitting set also.

As a driver goes, an R7 Quad on an Aldila NV shaft would make a nice driver. Any other drivers I should take into consideration?

btw, in your profile your handicap is listed as +4.8....is that correct or is it really a 4.8? Just curious.

Welcome to Golf Rewind birdies_and_eagles You're putting together my dream set there... I've heard good things about the G2s also, I don't think you can go wrong with either set.

after playing blades for so long, i cant see myself playing a cast iron ever again. i love the feel and knowing if i hit it pure or toed it or heeled it. i think playing the G2 irons will result in me getting "lazy". if you meant the G2 driver, its on my list of 3...the 905T(played Titleist Drivers since the 975), G2(used to bomb my Ping Tec on AJ Tech), or R7 Quad TP. thanks for the welcome guys. most of the time i just lurk around and dont post much but i'm here

my mother just bought him a set. a set of mid-sized Hiro Honmas..i dunno why. i talked to my father about her choice, and he says he loves em, and found 15 yards in his irons. he took a set of G2's out on the course and said he was seeing distances similar to his blades, but the Honmas were unbelievably long. Impressive...but i gotta see it to believe it! My mother plays honma as well. so the search for irons for my father is over.
