Exclamation cracked driver face

I play a 975J Titleist driver. In March 2004 I cracked the face dead center. It was sent to Titleist by the retailer and replaced for free. On May 1st this year I cracked the driver in the same place, it was sent back to Titleist by the retailer and replaced at no charge. During this replacement I spoke to a customer service manager at Titleist. He assured me that the replacement driver head would not crack. Well today on May 28th it cracked again in the same place.

I am a 16 year old high school player. Next week is the state high school championship. I am not sure what my true club head speed is but I drive the ball over 300 yards regularly. However, regardless of the clubhead speed should driver faces crack like this? Since this is the third one I don't know what driver can withstand my swing?

1. Does anyone have experience cracking Titleist drivers?
2. Does anyone understand the engineering behind other driver brands so that they could advise me regarding the strongest driver faces?

Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Blake

wow. that's nuts.

first thing-you should go to a launch monitor & find out what your ss & launch conditions are. maybe you hit it differently than most people. maybe the j's are not very good sticks. or maybe you're a 400lb gorilla.

second thing-after getting tested maybe go for a clubhead that's made for big swingers, like a smt or bang or alpha head. something you'd see on a regular basis on the long drive tour.

anyways, congratulations. i'd be pretty proud to say i'd cracked 3 drivers already. **** but still stroke the caveman ego.

I don't know too much about it, but a friend of mine just cracked his Cobra driver. It was a steel driver, not titanium.

I think that as they have made the faces thinner and thinner, we may see more and more if this.
