Question straight 3, slice 1

Hi all you slicers,
lol sry to make fun of it but, it is a trait i have carried for years. I set up the 3 wood on the tee and bang away it goes, most of the time right where I want it to go,straight, high,,,,, just short, sure it takes a bounce or two but no where near the distance I need off the tee,,, Hey it isn't supposed to is it.
Of course I could break out the 1 like I'm supposed to but,,,, why do that when I am 90 % sure it is going to slice off to the right so bad that it ends up on the next fairway over, suddenly there are other guys a little upset with the, amazingly nasty shot I just made, and not any further than it would have if I had used the three like I knew I should have.. lol.
Sound familure????? I have just started clocking the club a little and it seems to help but,,,
Any advise would ,,, keep some others safer lol.
Rick

Rick, sounds like you have a few issues with your drives off the tee, I think that a lesson or some advice from a good playing peer, that can witness what you are doing.

Rick!!! My friend, you sound just like me!!!! Slicing the driver so bad that it instills the fear of the Golf Gods in you...I just stay with the fairway metal for now, just like you.
Glad you found us here at GR and good luck improving the "big fade"....!!!

Hey Rick, how different are the shafts in your driver and 3 wood? I don't understand why there should be that big of a difference in shot shape unless you swing differently with your driver then the 3 wood or it may all be mental

sliceing 1

Hi again all,
and thanks for the replies about the sliceing problems.
All my clubs have graphite shafts and I really like the softer hit feel , and responce is great. I played 27 yesterday and had the same luck with the 1 as expected (major fade) so I once again played pretty good ecept I really need the tee shot to be longer and straight. I did watch my father in law with his 1 hit some beautiful shots off the tee but I was only 10 ft behind him with the 3
some how I got him by 6 strokes at the end.(yea me,, )
I played with the right elbow position for the back swing and did get a hook or two on the driving range but when it came to the game the 1 stayed in the bag, lol. Clocking the club a bit seemed to help as well, also played with the stance,,,,, now too many changes and thinking to much is going to mess me up for awhile but I will get this thing, it is the only club in the bag the has me baffeled.
I do have a question for anyone who cares to try to answer.
How are these guys putting so much back spin on the ball when they hit the greens??? I have opened the face of both the 9 and the sw but do not see the action on the green, sure it bounces and does not move far but, it sure does not roll backwards.
Okay all, got to go, wifey and I are going to go do some vlt work at the local civic center for all the people we have here from New Orleans. Local stores here (100 miles to the west of New Orleans) are out of milk and bread etc... etc... etc...!!!! and there are a lot of people in a bad way.
