Hi Shadowjack,
I just signed up at Golf Rewind tonight, and came here to introduce myself, when I saw that the last posting was yours, "Hi from Gresham Oregon". This is a bit of a coincidence as I used to live in Hillsboro, OR. myself. I moved there from England seven years ago, and stayed for a couple of years...before the rain got to me! Aaarrrghhhh! Absolutely beautiful place though, the Pacific Northwest. I loved Portland, and visited Cannon Beach, Mt. Hood, Seattle, and Vancouver BC every chance I got.
Completely lucked out the second year there and managed to play three rounds of golf at Bandon Dunes before it opened to the general public (thanks, Kev!). The course ripped me a new one (so to speak) all three days, but remains the golf experience of my life!
Anyhow, I left many good friends back in Portland, and hope to go back (to stay?) sometime in the near future.
Now I'm living and working in Florence, SC (an hour's drive NW of Myrtle Beach) and, while it's been quite the culture shock, I'm really happy here. The climate and the region is made for playing golf, and I've been able to get my handicap back to what it was when I played three times a week back home.
If you're ever out here, don't forget to pack your clubs and tour the Myrtle Beach or Charleston area golf courses. Incredible! Top notch golf, scenery, and Southern hospitality at its finest. Every golfer owes it to him/herself to play at The 'Beach.
Welcome, Shadowjack, and I'll keep an eye out for you now that you're here at GR!
