I finally decided to stop reading long enough to post for thr first time. I consider myself new to the game even though I played my first round over 15 years ago in college. I enrolled in a golf class for my P.E. credit to try something different. I enjoyed my class, but lost interest in playing soon after the class ended. My interest returned after a co worker suggested that we go out and play one morning about 4 months ago. I had an old set of discount store clubs that were given to me as a Christmas present shortly after my golf class(are Northwestern even made anymore?). My first round was a complete disaster. I lost every single ball I had brought(roughly 2 dozen) and some others that I had borrowed or found. I stopped counting strokes after the 7th hole. Some holes I just picked up my ball so that I wouldn't slow down anyone behind us.
I'm sure Ben Hogan was rolling in his grave. Even after such a horrible round, something inside of me changed: I was hooked! I couldn't wait to play again. I got a newer set of clubs as a present from my wife. After some trial and lots of error, playing almost every week, I shot my best round for 18: a 110.
I know its sounds pitiful, but I'm happy with my progress. I see lessons in my future. Thanks for letting me post and see you out there(don't worry, I'll let ya play through)

You, sir, are at the head of the class.
You get:
A+ for attitude
A+ for consideration
A+ for enthusiasm
A++ for humility
Therefore, you are most welcome here...I'd be honored to help you any way I can.

Welcome to Golf Rewind! We're so happy to have you here. Your best round sounds wonderful to me, I haven't done that well all year. I was just getting back into the "swing" of things when Katrina came to town. I've only played 3 times since the storm and my last round was the worst I've ever had. My score was higher than my old bowling average and would have thrilled my old bowling team. Enjoy your golf and have a good time!
