Hi wy3134 and welcome to Golf Rewind...nice handicap you have there. There's plenty of golf discussion on the board as well as sports to pass the time.
There is no secret....I just happen to enjoy the game and spend a lot of time at the range...i took lessons for a couple years back in high school but ive been working on my own for the past five years and reworked my swing so that its more controlled and powerful...i found for myself that the overswing and trying to just flail at the ball only hurts the body over time, although u can be accurate doing it, over time having a wild swing will kill the body....my best advice is to find a pro that teaches a swing similar to what you feel comfortable with, then work from there taking in pointers and information as you desire, as the nice thing, irregardless of how different everyone's swing is, there are some absolutes, such as the swing plane, getting into the slot position. its all about working with what you feel comfortable with really.
