Hola, from HB, Southern California!

Hello, all. Looking forward to some good golf chat.

Quick history - moved to the US 6 years ago, from London (where I'd lived for 4 years - I'm originally from Brechin, Scotland!) and took up the game. After a couple of classic hacking years, I somehow stumbled into an incredible ability to hit the ball. This lasted all of one year, then I was beset by a severe (and sustained) bout of the duck-hooks.

The good year produced some real highlights - shot a 66 (easy course - Costa Mesa's Linda), eagle from the fairway (Meadowlark's #2), eagle from the tee (ACE! - CM Linda's #8), typically shot in the mid/low 70's, longest drive on a slight uphill - 365, longest drive on a slight downhill - 390. Unfortunately, as good as the good was, the bad got just as bad. The draw turned into a hook, the hook into a sweeping death-move - starting left, then quickly moving left from there! Scores routinely up in the mid/high 90's!

Looks like I'm on the path to recovery, though. Played last Sunday, and chunked, shanked, pulled and bladed my way to a front nine 47, back nine 39. Needless to say, the back 9 is the one I'm focusing on!

Welcome longball!

Meadowlark GC is still around? Cool.. I thoguht they'd plough it down to build more houses! Nice fun and simple course.
Haven't played there since the 70's. I was a longtime Huntington Beach resident until I moved up north 18 years ago.

Have you played Mile Square GC over in Fountain Valley? That's a good course to test your skills.

Used to play there, but it got too punishing to spend 6+ hours out there. The new course there is a beaut, though, so I often get the urge to suck it up and go play it.
