short bio:
I'm 28, and live outside Philadelphia, Pa. Started playing about three years ago and spent the first two years shooting around 120+. Took a couple lessons, and now I consistently shoot around 100 with my best round being a 95. So I'm still learning, but taking 20 strokes off my game has made golfing a lot more enjoyable.
I was looking around for a good golf forum and found GR. This site seems to be pretty active, with a good deal of knowledgeable players, so I look forward to having some good discussions here.
Recently I'm focusing on my putting. I've tried a few different styles of putters, but seem to have the most consistent rolls with the mallet styles. I've been looking at the Scotty Red X and was looking for any comments from you guys who have played with it. Of course, all comments good and bad are appreciated...
Welcome to Golf Rewind! This is a great forum and we're happy to have you join us! The members are always available for friendly advice. Hope you enjoy your time here!
Welcome, Shadyshane. Grew up outside Philly myself. Just got back from a visit there, in fact. (Played Wyncote on a windy day; that was an adventure.) Anyway, you found a good site; hope you enjoy!
Where exactly is Outside Philly? I've lived in Philly all my life and have never heard of Outside Philly. It must be in the suburbs.
Anyway, what courses do you play? Byrnes is getting better and they have given Juniata a good overhaul. Bensalem has always been a nice one.
I live in Bala Cynwyd, but no one can ever pronounce it correctly, let alone know where it is, so "Outside Philly" always works. I play all over, but always get pulled up to Bella Vista (Near Gilbertsville).
The company I work for has our golf outing at Bensalem every year, so I have played there a bunch of times. Nice course, but the conditions have not been the greatest the past few years. Though during our last outing (May 11th), you could tell they are trying to get back on top of it.
