Golf Rewind's Language and Content Policy

Golf Rewind's growth in the past two years has been a treat to watch for members old and new who join the community. It's always nice to see a new member assimilate themselves into the great community that we have here and buy into the family-friendly environment the moderator team and all the cooperative members have worked so hard to create.

However, the site is growing more quickly now than it has at any point in the past and with that comes an increase in those who do not know the language/content policy we have here at Golf Rewind. Lately, the number of edits has been soaring and Team Golf Rewind believes it's time for a reminder to everyone of just what our policy consists of:

Edited Words

Everyone knows the basic words that are no-nos on any forum. Many of them are automatically edited by the software. What many members haven't learned yet is that we also edit a fairly extensive list of words that are commonly used it everyday conversation (yes, even by members of Team GR). Amongst them are ****, ****, ****, sucks, ********, **** and all the derivatives of those words. Also edited are all acronyms for foul language, such as BS, SOB and WTF, as well as partially *ed out curse words and ones where symbols are added rather than letters, such as a$$. This is the only time you'll find any of these words on the forum...all others WILL be edited and a PM sent to first time offenders. Multiple offenders may be dealt with in a more stern fashion, which is solely of the discretion of the moderator who edits it.

Suitable Content

It seems to be widely accepted on many forums nowaday that "if it's on TV, it's ok to post it." That is not so here. Let's just please leave the crude jokes and inappropriate comments on television. We have many teenage and pre-teen members on the site, so try to treat your posting on here as though your young, impressionable son or daughter could read it and bring it up at the dinner table tomorrow. A big benefit of this policy is that without the garbage humor, it forces folks to be more creative if they want to be funny. More intelligent posting is always a good thing in our minds.

Flaming/Personal Attacks

We know we're on the internet and not everyone will agree with everyone else on a particular topic. However, our expectation is that everyone should disagree in the most civil manner possible. We have a low tolerance for flaming and personal attacks here...in many cases, a first offense will merit a suspension if the attack is vicious enough. We've had a few problems lately with threads getting out of hand, so it cannot be stressed enough that if you make a derogatory post directed at someone, it WILL be removed and possibly the entire thread will be shut down if it gets too bad. So let's just all try to give each other the respect that we would give them in a face to face encounter...besides, bickering doesn't get you anywhere in the long run.

No use of Golf Rewind for commercial purposes
Absolutely no commercial advertising is allowed on any part of Golf Rewind, including our "Marketplace" forum. This includes using Golf Rewind to conduct a survey as well as promoting products, services or Web sites in your posts, signature or username. You may however post a direct link to an outside site (such as a news article or editorial) if you believe it will be helpful to others. This rule also covers Web sites such as personal Web sites or blogs which you run.

Now, this may seem like a lot of information for a new member, but we believe it doesn't take a lot of restraint to follow our rules and if everyone follows them, it sure makes our jobs a whole lot more pleasant. If any of these rules seem overwhelming or unfair to you, or you feel you cannot comply, then perhaps you would be better served by finding a home at a different golf forum.

Thank you,

Team Golf Rewind
