Hello Everyone from Shawnee, KS,
I'm new to the game of golf. So far I played one round years ago and a couple of scrambles at work. My wife and I took lessons last year but never got out to play a round since school started and we didn't have time. We're both interested in the game and are looking forward to getting out soon to play. We bought her the Callaway GES set last year after researching sets for women and she's doing well with it at the driving range. I have an old set of starter clubs I inherited and just ordered a new set from eBay that will be here next week. I did some research online and decided to go with the Adams Idea A1 Hybrid Iron set with regular steel shafts and the Burrows golf MAC Tourbounce Gap, Sand, & Lob Wedge set. Picked them both up new on eBay from Rock Bottom Golf for $224 shipped. They look like a set that will see me through the next 3-5 years of recreational play and I figure I can sell them off on eBay without much loss if I don't stick with the game. I also picked up a TM Monza Knock-off putter last year that I used for numerous rounds of put-put. Now I'm watching eBay for a used 11 degree driver after reading this article on golfdigest.com

I'm looking forward to learning the game and spending time with my wife on the course. We used to hike a lot together when we lived in Adirondacks and I'm looking at golf as a replacement for that activity here in Kansas City where there's not many places to hike. If anyone know of any good, reasonably priced courses in the KC area for those of us who want to walk instead of taking a cart please let me know. Also, if anyone else is just starting out with their spouse and would like to get together and play please pm me.
I'm also looking forward to learning from the members of this forum, and hopefully making some positive contributions to the forum myself as I progress.
I tend to be a gadget and gear junkie in any hobby I get into and I can already see that golf offers lots of opportunity to spend lots of money. I'd better be careful.
