Bret,

Welcome. I grew up around Fort Wayne and currently live in Indianapolis. Hope you enjoy the forum. I've only been down your way once for a wedding (Eville). Later.

I live in Greenfield and work in Fishers, so mostly Arrowhead and Grey Eagle. Haven't played for a week now though, covering someone elses' vacation at work that works a 'split shift', so no time to play either before or after work. Today is the last day though

Here lately, since my short game is struggling, I have been playing a par 3 here in Greenfield to work on it. $6 for nine holes, a fourth (at least) of what I'd pay somewhere else and I can work on those wedges just the same. You wouldn't believe the greens at this place though, my back yard would be smoother than this place. But, can't expect much for $6 for 9, $10 for 18....

What side of town you live/work on?

I live downtown. Honestly I have not played too many courses. I mostly play Coffin, South Grove, Eagle Creek (my personal favorite), and Saddlebrook. I've been to several others once or twice, like Sahm, Shank (fitting name?), the Legends, and a few more I don't recall the name. I've always wanted to check out the Fort, Bearslide, and Purgatory but they are a little expensive for me.

For anyone who is from or been to Fort Wayne, I've played quite a few courses there. My family used to be members of Pine Valley so I know that course very well. I played H.S. golf so that in itself probably allowed me to play 15-20 different courses around the city. My home course was Lafontaine in Huntington (painful drive everyday) and then we moved to Chestnut Hills when that opened. I've also played Sycamore Hills twice. I play quite often at Cherry Hill and recently played Autumn Ridge for the first time. Our H.S. sectional was at Brookwood.

Keep playing those par 3's Navy. My short game is atrocious, I guess I just don't have the desire to spend too many hours honing that part of the game. Riverside has a decent par 3 but I've only played it twice and don't remember the price. Good luck.

Welcome from a neighbor in Illinois. You get the rain an hour later than I. I guess you are indoors today.

IU grad in '01 here. Unfortunately I never played a single round of golf at IU. It is a real shame especially since there were a lot of very good golfers in my fraternity. If I remember correctly, we had 3 guys on the IU golf team including the '97 HS Indiana state champ in my pledge class. Oh well ... I was studying waaayyyy too much back then.

What house were you in? That's funny, I'm learning the game from a buddy in my frat. Not on the IU team - pry cuz he's a jerk - but he's actually out qualifying for the IL amateur tourney today. The IU course isn't so hot. I think it's too bad given that every thing else IU has is pretty good when it comes to athletic places for students... I am graduating this may :(

I was in Pi Kappa Phi. It is a shame how the Greek system has taken a huge dive. It all started when I was a sophomore after a house got booted off. I've been back several times over the years and it is sad to see all the houses that closed down. How is the system now? What house are you in?

I'm in Lambda Chi - our house took an especially HUGE dive somewhere around the time you were here. We are now only slowly getting back to respectable. We've lost a couple houses recently, but some more houses are coming back, a new chapter is coming in, and there's a brand new house, maybe even two this year. I personally think the greek system is getting weak. There's a whole bunch of rules and limitations that make every once have to dance alot more to get the same things done as it was when I was a freshman. But that may just be me getting "old" in the house. It seems every older guy in the house gets grumpy...
