Hi everyone--new to the board but not the game. I am a 16 handicap player after giving the game up for six years and this summer making a comeback. Twenty years ago I was a 4 and at age 58 hope to get to single digit handicap again. All helpful hints will be considered.
Welcome coachw. I'm 65 and play to a 1 handicap. Although I didn't skip six years, I had two major surgeries that kept me off the course for a year. The biggest hurdle coming back has been patience with my game. Running a close second is short game practice. On a good day I'm under par, but on a bad day my score can range up into the 80's. I use the bad days as a diadnostic. It usually shows me something needs work around the greens. Good luck on your return to the game.
Billyg, When did you start playing Golf? I'm currently a 16 handicapper, I need to hand in 3 more cards as im playing under my handiacap by a few shots. I started at 13, is that a good age? I'm now 15.
Ulprus - I started caddying when I was 8 and began playing shortly after that. Starting in your teens is fine. And there is so much more opportunity for tournaments, instruction, etc. now. Good luck to you!
