Greetings from Indiana! I've been lurking/reading for the past several months and thought I'd take the plunge and make my first post. I'm a former baseball player and coach. The former part has allowed me to work on my golf game with a lot more time and focus this year and just want to thank you all for the great information. I think I've finally rid myself of my baseball swing!! I've been bit by the golf bug for sure, but we've already had snow so it looks like I'll be doing more reading than playing until next spring.
Welcome aboard. You'll love this site. You might look around and see if there are any indoor ranges in your area. It could give you a leg up over the Winter.
You must be up in the LaPorte-South Bend area if you've already had snow...
Yes - just east of South Bend and far enough north to get the lake effect snow. I'm hoping to get a few more nice days to hit the greens, otherwise I may have to head your way. Any public/semi-private courses you would suggest near Indy?

Sounds like maybe Rolling Prarie or New Carlisle..? I know the area somewhat, I lived in LaPorte from fall of 1990 till spring of 1992 - I was the Navy recruiter there. You could be guaranteed your home state if you volunteered to recruit, but not your hometown. They told me LaPorte and I was like.....where? I surprised you're not more of a Bears fan - Bears country up there.
Down here, I'd say Purgatory in Noblesville and Twin Bridges in Danville would be excellent choices.

I grew up cheering for the Bears AND the Colts, but moved to Tampa and was real impressed with Tony Dungy, so when I moved back home (same year Dungy got the boot in Tampa) I was an instant fan.
I played at a small NAIA school here in Indiana - Taylor University from '93-'97 and was a hitting coach/assistant for my high school alma mater for the last 6 years. I know I'll miss it, but my family keeps growing and time with them is much more important than coaching. So I spend more time golfing - figure that one out. I've got to have some kind of physical (and mental) challenge and golf more than fits the bill!
