I've been away from golf for over 4 years. Went out last Friday and hit a couple of buckets with and old friend and got the desire to play again. Got really burned out on golf trying to chase down the perfect swing...thinking there is such a thing that everyone must learn...if they want to play well. My swing became high maintenance which meant I had to hit lots of balls. About 5 years ago a friend turned me on to a laughably simple system (that will forever remain unnamed because I don't do unpaid commercials for anybody) and in less then a year I was playing the best golf of my life. Suddenly it hit me how much time away from family and friends the stupid game had cost me and playing great golf just didn't mean what I thought it would. That may seem strange but getting what I always wanted from golf didn't mean a **** thing...because suddenly I felt like a fool spending so much time trying to do what seemed like balancing ball point pens on there tips. Well that's what my old swing seemed like and the thought of all that wasted time crushed me and my love for the game just died.
So after becoming so one dimensional I decided to develop some new hobbies. Got back into cars and built a custom bike and I feel much more centered and happy now. Well after the long lay off and practicing only a half an hour or so last Friday the shots were as straight as ever. Getting my yardage down and finding my short game will need much more fine tuning...but it's Winter with months to go before Spring. The really nice thing, that feels really good is this...I look forward to playing again. So I'm here to talk golf and waste the Winter away talking a little smack.

I see you have a filter here. I've spent considerable time in several different forums dealing with bikes, cars and golf over the last decade. Been a mod on two off them...so I should have read the worty dird list before posting. I'll use dang from now on...and you have my apologies. That's usually as rough as it ever gets with me so no need to worry.

Welcome to GR!
.... And, like Bigvivec (and probably many others), I would also very much like to find out what swing system you use. Why even mention it, if you are not going to tell us what it is?

Finding a way to play (as I stated in my 1st post, which you focused in on in your post)...that is laughably simple (at least for me) is what caused me to reflect on the wasted time I spent working my behind off for no good reason, only because I was chasing something that was explained in the most complex way possible, when it really didn't need to be. That smacked me hard and resulted in me stepping back and taking inventory on my life. That stepping back is what ultimately resulted in my re-entering ( so to speak) the game which I really down deep inside truly love to play. And that led me to my 1st post here on this site. That's the only reason I mentioned it.
Welcome to GR! Your Bungles are playing the Ravens this Sunday, so I don't expect your good mood to last too long!
I know what you mean. Our offensive line is so battered and jumbled around and our problems with the law has really taken a toll on their performance this year.
It's a tough road this year and it will be one game at a time. My mod will be fine.
