Greeting from Washington DC! I am fairly new to the game of golf. I started playing June ‘05. My first golf outing was after a work happy hour with a buddy. I made the horrible mistake of saying that golf was the easiest sport on the planet. Eager to prove me wrong, we headed to a local driving range and the bet was to hit a golf ball 150 yards with any club in the bag. Needless to say, I lost the bet and had to wash his car in a wet T-shirt. That is how the seed was planted…..
Since then I took lessons from a golf pro in my area, got new clubs, and now I shoot in the low 90s to high 80s. My lowest score was a 84 in Los Vegas at Angel Park Golf Course. As the season ends here, I am already looking forward to next year, were I plan to shoot mid 80s.
I hope to gain some good knowledge here and make some friends….. Thanks
Nice intro...welcome to the site...Langston...isn't that the adult ed building in Arlington off Lee Hwy?
You are correct, and I didn't realize it. Langston is also the name for my "home course" Langston Golf Course in NorthEast DC. I use it 80% of the time for practicing for a number of reasons:
1. No cost to chip and putt. So I just bring my shag bag and my putter and stay out there for hours....
2. I can walk 9 after work for 15 bucks.
3. No crowds. I can actually walk up to the starter on the weekends and get on the tee. Can't beat that in the DC area....
Northeast is really underrated...I used to know a girl who lived at Michigan and 13th and spent alot of time in that area...miss the peas and rice from the Jamacians on Georgia Ave. and getting Hogs on the Hill carryout...welcome again!
