Longtime Phoenix resident, new golfer!

Yes, I have actually lived in Phoenix AZ for over 30 years and only took up golf 12 months ago!

Man oh man what I have been missing all these many years.

I've played a few scrambles and charity fund raisers last year. Also play a lot for general business purposes. Lucky enough to take long lunches and knock out an executive 9'er few times a week as desired. My untrained handicap is about 20 right now. Good at drives (heavy hitter) but iron work is troubling. Putting is fair to poor. I can't hit a fairway wood on an unteed lie.

Took my first lesson this weekend after 12 months of 'messing around' and had a 100% improvement in the first 10 minutes (grip change).

Like to drink cold ones and smoke big fat hand-rolled cigars on the weekends while playing (sometimes at home too ).

When I started golfing, my main focus was the courtesey of golf (you know, quick play, etiquitte, tradition, etc. don't care much for gimme's but will acquiesce to keep pace). Read Golf Etiquitte and a few Harvey Pennick and Tommy Armour books.

Wish Ping would start making those copperish looking Ping Eye 2's again!

Anyway enough 'bout me. Here's to golf!

Thank you for the welcome, everyone!

Looking forward to spending some time at the range tonight and working on fundamentals and muscle memory.

Happy golfing to all...

Welcome aboard. This is such a good site. I've been playing Ping irons for 10 years now: first Zings, then Zing2s. You might give these a try.

Nothing beats customer golf . . . you play and the company picks up the tab!

Yes sir! One thing I can say about golf: it has assisted me greatly in the contact and networking aspect. Not just for biz purposes, but genuine friendships as well...

Only wish I would've started playing a decade ago.

Thanks ColoColfer, I see by the avatar you like M3's? Me too but I'm running a 330i for the time being (time for wife to get the next car LOL)...trying to tell her to get the 911 and I'll give her my 330! - she isn't buying into my sweet offer -

Yes, PHX is great but the summers will cause a riff in locale devotion
