New member here. Am a member of a few different boards. Saw a couple of user names that look familiar from other places. Always lurking, occasionally posting. Been playing golf on and off for about 30 years. Horrible at it, but love to play. I hope y'all don't mind if I sit a spell.
Any hidden gems down your way? I'm in Western NC, myself.
Hidden gems? Not really. the nicest course close by is Cherokee Run, a Palmer designed course with lots of elevation changes, etc. Golf in this area is pretty expensive, running around $50 - $60 on weekends.
About 1 - 1.5 hours north there are some really nice courses (with commiserate price tags).

I have to get down that way more often. I have heard of most of them, but haven't played one.
Have you played Hammer's Glen in Homer? Good course at a very good value.
No. I've heard it's pretty nice. I have a step-daughter and grandkids that live in Maysville. I may have to make a special trip one day. Pretty good rates through LMTT.
Have you played any of the Georgia State Park courses? Highland Walk and Arrowhead Pointe are both some tough (but nice) courses. A few of us from another forum got together at Arrowhead Pointe a couple of months ago (kicked our rears).
Sometime if you're gong to be in the general area, we can hook up for a round. That's the kind of special occasion that'll make me drive for na hour or two to play.
When we got together to play Arrowhead Point, one guy was from Athens, one from Augusta, one from Southwest of Atlanta, and me from Loganville.
My brother just moved to Cumming and could probably be talked into playing too.

That would be cool. I have Tradition, Reunion, and Frog on my to-do list for the year. I have heard good things about all of them.
