New Guy in Albany NY

Hello All

I'm Tom, and I just moved to Albany from the Poconos PA, and also just found this site.

I'm a middle of the road golfer that has been at it for the past 10 or so years while working grounds at a country club, then as a sales manager at a golf resort.

I've played with professionals as well as first timers, and now I am looking to meet some folks who are familiar with the courses in my area. Drop me a line, and I'll see you on the links

Welcome to Golf Rewind, Tom. Great to have you on here. How long have you been in Albany and is it warm enough to hit the links now?

Hope to hear a lot more from you soon.

Welcome! I live within an hour of Albany, and no, V, there is a foot of snow still in my yard, which is why I've been digging a VJ trough into my living room carpet. Anyway-- let me know which courses you need info on, Tom. I've played just about everything in the Capital Region and am a single digit.

Thanks everybody!

Yeah, we got hit with some snow for St. Patty's, but it seems to be clearing up pretty quickly. I'm itching to get out, and from what I've heard, some courses are open all year, weather depending. May not be the best of conditions, but I'll take what I can get!

Hey treyes111, there's couple courses down your way that I really like.

http://www.weather.com/outlook/recre...rchresults&y=9

Colonie Town golf course, this one is a great time, very scenic, people are friendly, you'll come back more than once.

Colonial Acres - charming 9 hole course in Glenmont. Easy to walk. Lots of fun.

Frear Park is fun, worth checking out.

Hiawatha, on the inexpesive side, can be a challenge to walk. 18 holes of par 3 golf.

Bruinswick Greens, Is small charming 9 hole par 3. It's got a driving range. Course is usually empty.

There's some really nice courses if you head 20 minutes up the northway to exits 9-14
Saratoga Lake
Saratoga National
Sarata State Park
Van Patten
Eagle Crest
Airway Meadows
Brookhaven

10 minutes further north and you reach the Glens Falls area. Ranked by Golf Digest as one of the top 5 areas in the country for golf.

Hey grathan, I'm in Saratoga! Let me know if you plan on playing the SPA or the Lake Course and I'll try to join you.

Hey all,

Wow so many upstate golfers, I never would have thought!

I'm from Glens Falls, NY, about 50 minutes north of Albany, so many great courses in our neck of the woods, its amazing. You'll definitely have a great time in Albany and surrounding areas for golf...soon as that snow goes away, that is. :)

I'm brand new here as well, getting ready for the season, looking into all new clubs and found this great community.
