New here, new to golf

Hey, everyone. Recently addicted golfer here - started when I saw some clubs in a second-hand store, thought it might be fun to go to the driving range. One thing led to another, and for the past month I've been going once a week to a local 3-par course before work. Been looking for some forums where I can daydream about golf during work. Looks like I found the right place.

Welcome to Golf Rewind, BrassEagle! I know MANY people in your position. Maybe someone gives them an old set of clubs and they end up going to the driving range. Then they decide to step out on the course and they're hooked! Oh wait, that's exactly how I started! Glad to see you found us. Look forward to hearing more from you in the future!

Heh, actually, someone did give me a set, after I mentioned that I was enjoying the driving range. Better yet... my wife urged me to get started, thinking it's something we can do together as we get older. I must be a lucky guy to have a wife who says, "Hey, go golfing tomorrow"!

Lucky is the word, BrassEagle.

I hope that you and your wife are able to enjoy the game together, but many marriages have been sorely tested by a husband trying to teach his wife to play. A better tactic is to take lessons separately and then play together, but don't be surprised if she beats you!

My wife is just happy to get rid of me and have the house to herself for a few hours, which isn't a bad deal either.

My wife started golfing with me a couple of years back. She got the bug almost immediately. She now golfs a couple of times a month with some gals from out neighborhood. Welcome to the board.

Thanks - I've already learned not to suggest a club to her, and just let her play the way she wants. It's just nice to be outside together, and since I can't get her to go on week-long camping trips in the wilderness, golf's the next best thing....

And yes, she does tend to hit it straighter than I do!
