Hi all from Chile

I'm a newbie (to the forum), just got back to golfing 7 months ago, an excellent choice. Started golfing when I was a kid and still can remember when my golf coach Alberto Salas got mad when I took my baseball bat from the bag and asked him to pitch, he said my dad would not be happy.

After 15 years I'm back on the course and I'm looking forward to improve an get better, meaning to be consistent and bring down my score.

I look forward to golf the forum and take advantage of all your counseling and guidance, also to contribute to it if possible.

Bestr regards,

Scuba[/size]

Welcome to GR Scuba! South America is getting more and more golfers onto the pro tours in recent years. Do you know of any up and coming Chilean (sp?) golfers who might make an impact on the professional tours sometime soon?

Re: Hi all from Chile

There's a couple of players in the States going to College that will hopefully be playing pro very soon (if they take the option). One of them is Martin Ureta that just classified to the US Open (After three years of trying to classify to the US Open, Martín he achieved its objective. On June 4 he played 36 holes in Abingdon, Maryland, to qualify. The rounds of 72 and 68 (- 4) made him tied with two Americans, so the morning of Tuesday 6, he played at 08: 30hrs. He knew both players and the golf course, which gave him the confidence and qualified.Martín he is the first Chilean amateur player in the history of national golf which classifies a Major. This important American Tournament will be played in the Country Club located in, Pennsylvania, between 11 and June 17). The others would be Nicolas Geyger that plays for Tulsa University and Benjamin Alvarado who plays for Arizona State (see results of them at NCAA)

On the other hand, the Chilean player Anita Ojeda, is preparing to play for a quota in the Women `s US Open, the next Monday June 11.

Will try to keep you posted.
